RTBF & "Coyotes"

coy

Jacques is finishing post-production on the RTBF series “Coyotes”, which he co-directed with Gary Seghers (“Ennemi Public”). The series is a Luxembourgish co-production created by Vincent Lavachery & Axel Dubus and starring Louka Minnella, Steve Driesen, Dara Tombroff, Philippe Jeusette, Isabelle Defosse… as well as a bunch of hugely talented up-and-comers and fresh faces.

“17 year-old Belgian Boy scout Kevin has just started summer camp in Luxembourg. During a drug-fueled night with a girl from the village, he discovers diamonds and a mermaid at the bottom of a lake. The drugs wear off and Kevin discovers that the mermaid is actually the corpse of the ex-boyfriend of the girl he’s fallen in love with. It turns out that the girl and her ex stole the diamonds from a corrupt border agent, who will stop at nothing to get his merchandise back. Kevin had hoped to escape his violent father at Scout Camp but his adventures will take him out of the frying pan and straight into the fire.”

Merci! Wallimage funding secured for "Kommunioun"

Wallimage, the much-loved regional Belgian fund that supported many a European success story in the last decade (while also developing the sidebar “Fantastic Wallonia”) have just announced that they said “oui!” to our project. “Kommunioun” is thus steering a few nautical miles further towards completion of financing!

Producer Gilles Chanial of Films Fauves and myself will be at “Rencontres de la Coproduction Francophone” in November (@Luxembourg).

Here is what the good people of Wallimage had to say:

… and in English:

"Last but not least" is a term largely misused by journalists. In the case of “Kommunioun” , to be directed by Jacques Molitor, it makes sense. After "Skinwalker" (by Christian Neuman), of which we saw some very exciting excerpts at the Cannes Borders market last May, Luxembourg offers us a thoroughly enticing genre proposition. It should rather be placed in the category "elevated genre", meaning: genre flicks that deal in filigree with a contemporary societal or psychological issue. Without revealing too much of the plot, this already gives you a small indication of the subject of the film which, if it should keep the promises of its formidable screenplay, will constitute a major addition to our site.
